Present project is a part of the multidisciplinary research programme "Social capital and networks on trust", funded by the Academy of Finland and Tekes.

The project analyses the changing relations between competition and social capital in different spheres of economical activity. The main question is, what was the role that social capital played in creating cooperation and regulating competition. It examines, how the companies and entrepreneurs both limited and controlled mutual and external competition and shared markets by forming informal and formal cooperative network organisations.

The problems will be approached from three different
perspectives: competition, cooperation and social capital.
The context in which these perspectives
will be analysed can be summarised in
two words: structure and change.
In structural context the project
will combine the micro- and
macro-level research.
